The total value of all cryptocurrencies in circulation reached $2 trillion on Wednesday (August 12) for the first time since May.
According to data provided by Coingecko, digital asset values peaked at $2.007 trillion on Wednesday.
Bitcoin, the largest and most influential cryptocurrency, accounted for 43.4% of the overall market, while Ethereum took 18.8% of the market share.
Bitcoin surged this week to a nearly three-month high as policy makers hashed out last-minute compromises over how to tax crypto assets. As of writing, a Bitcoin is $45,015.18.
Peer coins also benefited, with Dash, Ether and Litecoin, among others, each up at least 3%
