On February 26, 2025, Pump.fun’s X account was hacked. The attackers promoted a fake $PUMP token, falsely claiming it was the platform’s official governance token. The fraudsters used an image from Pump.fun’s mobile app launch video and a fake Solana contract address.

Pump.fun’s co-founder, Alon Cohen, quickly alerted users to avoid interacting with the compromised account. While the team has not regained access, they are working to restore control. The hacker continued promoting fraudulent tokens during this time.

Cohen confirmed that all security protocols were followed, but he suspected the issue was internal to X itself. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT supported this, linking the hack to similar incidents with other projects like Jupiter DAO and Dogwifhat.
